Killers - the movie

This one is going to be short, I'm sure, but a couple of nights ago we watched the movie "Killers" via Netflix instant play (you really have to love technology today).  The story is about a couple who meet, and the guy who previously was a hit man type gets out after falling in love, then later he becomes the target.  A pretty done over storyline with little originality, though this one was a comedy rather than a thriller.  It wasn't great, wasn't horrible, but rather was an ok movie that was worth spending the evening watching.
The movie stars Ashton Kutcher, whom other than his role in "That 70s Show" as Kelso I've never really been fond of and this was no exception, as the federal agent who is a professional assassin.  He is on assignment where he meets the lady played by Katherine Heigl whom I am neither a fan of or dislike greatly either.  Neither character is really that good, nor are they developed or rounded out and are just pieces of the movie really.  The movie really doesn't do much for me from a character stance.

The plot doesn't really do much for me either as in the beginning it leaps forward unrealistically with them meeting, him trying to tell her he's a killer that first night but she passes out, two weeks later he wants to marry her, then it is three years in the future already.  Then they go from their normal lives to his boss being back and then practically everyone they know is out to kill him.  Turns out his father-in-law was his intended target when they met and had planted people there to kill him should he come out of retirement which it had appeared he had.  Overall the story was just lacking but wasn't a complete loss, just jumpy and unrealistic.

The story did have some good comedic moments in it and wasn't a drag, so it did keep up to some extent making it decently enjoyable despite the downfalls.  Honestly looking at the problems you would think I would hate it but I really didn't.  It is worth a couple of hours of down time to watch.
