This past weekend I got to spend some great quality time with my wife. We were able to take in a couple of concerts at Nebraska Land Days, seeing a few country artists including Brad Paisley, then seeing My Darkest Days and Hinder the next night. Both were great shows and worth seeing. Before we came home we went to see Hangover II in the theater, and then watched Just Go With It when we got home.
The Hangover II was much like the first one, just a new location and a new person getting married. If you liked the first you'll likely enjoy the second as well. While the premise is the same, night before a wedding the group gets drunk and can't remember what happened leaving them to put together the pieces as they find someone they lost leading them down a crazy road, it is changed up enough that it is still good and not just redone. Having this one in Bangkok instead of Vegas provided a different setting entirely which was good as well.
The characters are much the same, and aren't overly interesting but not bad either other than Alan. He's still extremely annoying though the source of most of what happens. Overall the group together is fun to watch though.
Many of the situations they re-discover the next day are humorous and at times over the top but very fun to watch. The movie provided a number of very humorous moments and overall it was very worth the trip to see it in the theatre.
The second movie which was rented from Redbox (you have to love Redbox, a great business idea), Just Go With It, was also very good. While there wasn't a ton of character development they were enjoyable though you really knew little of any of them beyond the main character, and even then that was limited. I have found over time that Adam Sandler doesn't bug me as much and Jennifer Anniston I tend to enjoy in films. The portrayal of the "sheep herder" was a rather humorous portion of the movie by one of the side characters.
As for the plot, it wasn't necessarily new but it was well done and progressed nicely providing plenty of fun moments. The "lie keeps growing" plot line really did flow well and I enjoyed the movie and didn't find that it drug at any point. The ending was pretty predictable (as many are) but how it got there was still an enjoyable ride.
Overall I would recommend both movies myself, having enjoyed both of them. Seems of late that I've had a good run of movies, so hopefully that continues...
